Heated Flooring System by Schluter

When thinking about updating your home with ceramic tile, porcelain tile, or natural stone, you may hesitate because these products will mean a “colder floor” in your home. If you’re someone that often walks around barefoot in your home then that certainly is something to consider. However, this is no longer a concern because Zoe’s ProEdge Painting can easily install radiant floor heating underneath your new tile, stone, or vinyl flooring. It’s called the Schluter DITRA-HEAT system. Beyond having an awesome, high-tech, cozy, heated floor, there are some other really wonderful benefits to installing this system.

Increased Subfloor Stability

Schluter DITRA-HEAT incorporates uncoupling mats that increase the stability of your subfloor to prevent the cracking of tiles and grout joints. The DITRA-HEAT wires are then laid into the uncoupling mat for uniform heat distribution. The mat acts as an underlayment so your floor will end up being flat. With previous technology, you would have to skim-coat or self-level the floor, increasing the amount of time it took to install. The entire system can be used in various applications, such as over wood and concrete substrates, under ceramic/porcelain tiles and natural stone, along with being installed under shower pans and benches.

Custom Heating Zones & Programmable Thermostats

The DITRA-HEAT system is fully customizable and is great in small or large spaces. Customizable heating zones can be created by placing heating cables wherever heat is desired. There are various amounts of cable sizes to fit any square footage job. There is even a new addition to the DITRA-HEAT family called a power module. This power module is used to extend the span (previously 300 ft) of an area that can be heated on one thermostat. This makes it easier to install in very large spaces where only one thermostat is preferred. Schluter also just launched their new touchscreen thermostat. This is available with their existing programmable and non-programmable thermostats.

10-Year Full Warranty

Schluter offers a 10-year full warranty on labor and materials. The warranty requires that the cables are tested after installation with a megohmmeter and two times during the installation to ensure cable quality. Zoe’s ProEdge Painting is supplied with all the proper equipment and testing capabilities to ensure our customers receive the 10-year full warranty.

Homeowners have the option to extend warranty coverage by completing an online form and submitting proof of purchase within ninety days of installation. In addition, the DITRA-HEAT system also uses two probes, so if there are any issues with one cable probe failing after approximately 10 years, you are able to switch to the next wire that has not been used. This prevents needing to open up your beautiful flooring to fix any wire issues.

Operating Costs

The approximate cost of operating the Schluter DITRA-HEAT system is roughly $0.10 per square foot per month. The cost may vary per project and location. If you have approximately 80 square feet of heated flooring, it will cost approximately $8.00 per month to run your heated floor 24/7. The touchscreen thermostat can also calculate operating costs by inputting your current electric costs.

The Schluter DITRA-HEAT system is a product trusted by Zoe’s ProEdge Painting.
